Sweet Nothing

By C.B. Mottor

Sweet Nothing

Keep your sweet nothings.
I’ve had my fill of those;
more than enough to know
saccharine is sickening
and leaves me unsatisfied.

I want truths so bitter,
salivary and salacious
your lips smack and pucker
in revolt against their utterance.

Now kiss me,
let me savor
their tartness
on the tip
of your tongue.
